OPI – Dating a Royal

I was in Hawaii when the royal wedding happened and I still watched it that morning that it was on, haha.  Since this polish is pretty much an ode to the royal engagement (I LOVED Kate’s blue engagement dress), I knew I had to have it.

1 coat Seche Rebuild (base)
2 coats OPI – Dating a Royal
on alternating nails:
/ 1 coat OPI – I Lily Love You (glitter)
/ 1 coat Sinful Colors – Pearl Harbor (glitter)
1 coat Seche Vite  (topcoat)

So this is as royal blue as it’s gonna get.  It’s not my favorite dark blue creme (hello China Glaze – First Mate) but it’s a pretty good one.  It definitely reminds me of Kate’s engagement dress which is what I really love about it.  To be honest, if you have a dark blue in your collection, you probably don’t need this unless you were into the royal wedding stuff like me. lol

I wanted to make it less conservative (less boring) by trying out some glitters that I hadn’t tried out.  Plus, I hadn’t done the dark color with glitter combo in months.  I couldn’t pick just one so I alternated between Sinful Colors – Pearl Harbor and OPI – I Lily Love You.  Here’s a closeup so you can tell the difference between the glitters:

Pearl Harbor is a more uniform blue/green glitter whereas I Lily Love You has flakie-like glitter of all different shapes.  I love the look of glitter over dark colors but since it’s summer, I’m trying to enjoy the summer colors while I can.  I’ll have to rock this a couple of months from now… 😦
