I am so mad about this polish. It was impossible to truly capture it’s amazingness on my camera haha. My pictures don’t quite show you and I’m not sure words will express it’s beauty well enough. It’s gorgeous!! I spent a long time trying to decide if it was gunmetal or dark gray with shimmer or black with shimmer and came up with “liquid hematite” as being the closest color description. It has all the power of a black but with stunning dimension. I would wear this just about anywhere, minus the just about! It’s a dress up or dress down kinda polish; seriously, I can picture this mani on me in situations from girls night out to a black tie affair. (I did dress it down with a coat of Jack O’ Varnish – Moonwitch to show Mel the pumpkin polish that is soon to be in her posession 😛 See it below the cut!) And that’s just me raving about the color!! The formula is excellent too; two coats, no issue, and clean up was a breeze. It’s not one of those dark polishes that stain as you clean it up, and the shimmer isn’t like some where you end up with your hands looking like they were ke$ha-fied haha. It’s just a no hassle amazing color!
I have a mini slide show to try and show you a hint of it’s beauty, but since it’s a limited edition color, I suggest you just get it haha. I know Mel picked it up today, a choice I fully supported (yes, I enabled her during her buying black out… but she couldn’t miss out on this color!! She’s our gunmetal girl!!) Owl’s Night has been the out of the gate star of the Project Runway line, but trust me, this color is no less of a show stopper 😀
A day late and a dollar short… well, in this case, a computer short haha. This past week my (very) old computer decided to finally pass on over to the land of scrap components, without my consent of course. But! I have a new one now 🙂 so I’m bbaacckkkkk! Admit it, you missed me haha.
What’s a better place to start a fall list than with a glow-in-the-dark pumpkin polish??
Now, Devina may take a few coats to wear on it’s own (8 to be exact…) but it’s a perfect pick me up on those dreary days of fall. Being such a thin polish, it’ll be a great top coat too. And it GLOWWWSSS! Just like Gralch the Hag and Drakos of Winged Death, this polish is pure fall fun! (and will get a full Halloween worthy review soon!)
Hit the jump for my four other fall favorites, and maybe even some snuck in fall nail art 😉
I know we say polishes surprise us all the time and many of our reviews we LOVE, but I have to say, even though I was excited about this polish, I REALLY underestimated it. Quality and holiday polishes don’t usually go together, but this one has me wishing it was Halloween year round. It’s a great formula, super festive and super fun. It is pure Halloween magic in the form of black and orange bar glitter! I used my monster name generator again, since the polishes don’t have names, and came up with Gralch the Hag, haha.
It’s amazingly easy application; easy to manipulate the glitter on the few pieces you need to, one coat gives perfect glitter coverage, and the clear base is the perfect consistency. Being that it’s only the 19th of September, I did choose to wear it on a day that I was just rocking it in the house haha, but come October, you can bet this will be getting some real action!
1 coat Seche Rebuild
1 coat Fresh Paint – Metro
1 coat Jack O’ Varnish – Gralch the Hag
1 coat Seche Vite (probably could have used 2 though to make it smoother)
Fresh Paint – Metro was my base, and I think that may have even impressed me more. Hit the jump for a review on that!
So, there are benefits to living in the tundra for a while. Benefits like PUMPKIN NAIL POLISHES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
When I read on Make Up Alley that these were coming to Meijer, I knew it was a must have for this season 😛 My love of Halloween is right up there with my nail polish addiction! (Is there a more perfect holiday? No. The answer is no, haha.) Since these are only available at Meijer’s, I’ve been keeping this a little hush hush from Sandy and Mel so I could surprise them with the AWESOMENESS. The DC area has many things that I miss, but it does not have Meijers 😉
The first one I’ve chosen to review is the blue flakie. I know, you were expecting a brand and polish name there, but these don’t have them unfortunately. SO next best thing? Online Monster Name Generator! This is now Jack O’Varnish – Drakos of Winged Death to me haha. Has a nice ring to it!
This was the first of the pumpkins I’ve tried, but I’m really impressed with the quality. Application and wearability were top-notch. I did layer this over Sinful Colors – Savage because I noticed it had a purple tint in the bottle and I wanted it blue on my nails. I did 2 coats of each (plus 2 coats of Seche since it’s a flakie and wasn’t super smooth) and I really like the results.
