Revlon- Starry Pink

I have feelings about this polish. I’m not exactly sure what they are, but I have them. I picked this color up in Walgreens and Rite Aid several times, only to put it back. It’s not going to look good on my fingers I told myself. And yet, I kept going back to look at it, and then putting it down. Then I saw it on another blog, on the tips of someone who is paler than I am. And it looked really nice! So naturally I thought it would look really nice on me. So I went back, and I bought it. I Used:
1 coat Orly Nail Defense
3 coats Revlon Starry Pink
2 coats Seche Vite Fast Dry Top Coat

Starry Pink is a milky pale pink packed with silver micro and hex glitter. It’s so milky, it’s whiter than I am. And due to the glitter, it’s not a smooth formula. It’s very gritty and rough. But it’s still thick enough, between the glitter and the base, 3 coats gives you full opacity. It also eats your top coat so you’ll need 2 coats. I still think it’s a pretty polish, and it’s very different from everything else on the market. It looks absolutely terrible on me, but I still sort of like it despite the fact that it makes me look like I just came home from the beach. But it’s a great flashy neutral. From far away, you could hardly tell I had polish on, let alone a glitter-packed one.

I love glitter. I love Revlon. I loved the concept of them being brought together and as soon as I ran into this collection, I bought the whole thing. When I saw that Starry Pink was a glitter that had a base color to it, I got a little excited. Hopefully this was the perfect blending of Revlon color quality and the fun of glitter. At about coat two, my excitement waned. It’s not the easiest formula to manage multiple layers of. And I felt like it was really thick on my nails after the 3-4 coats it took to become opaque. I don’t hate it, but I didn’t have that victorious, YES THIS IS AMAZING moment with this polish either. The color it creates is pretty, but you have to be heavy handed with the polish to get that color. I’d be interested to play with StarryPink as a layering polish over pinks and purples. Maybe even blue. I think it could really shine in that format and make me love it. On it’s own? Let’s just say if I was reaching for a fun glitter mani, and only had the option of using this on it’s own, I wouldn’t reach for it very often. And I hate having to say that.
